2011 Banana Festival Photo Contest winners


Banana Festival Photo Chairman Terry Crabtree announces the following:

During the open period for submission of online photo’s to the Banana Festival Photo Contest 635 photos were entered in the following six categories: Nature & Landscape, People, Animals, Digital Darkroom, Places, and Flowers. Also there was a separate category only for school students.

The judges for this event were Mrs. Erin Hancock, Fulton, KY., Dr. Tom Gallien, Martin, TN., Mr. William Gross McGee of Mayfield, KY., and Mrs. Anita McAlpin, Mayfield, KY.  The judging panel was made up of Photography Professors, Teachers, and Professional Photographers.

The judging was all done online and the winners were tabulated after going thru 3 different rounds of elimination.

 

The Banana Festival Committee was composed of John R. (Pete) Algee, Terry Crabtree, and Robert Vanderford.

 

In the final round the Best of Show is Linda Ivey of Benton, KY., who’s winning picture was-Brothers and is to receive a 1st place prize of a Temba Shoot Out Ultralight shoulder bag, Jerry Rucker Award ribbon, Best of Show ribbon and Category ribbon.

The 2nd Place Best of Show is Donnie Carson of Paris, TN., whose winning 2nd place picture of Smokies In The Fall and is to receive a prize of Interfit 5 in 1 Kit 42’ with arm

The 3rd Place Best of Show is Donnie Carson of Paris, TN., whose winning picture was Old Mill and is to receive a prize of Tamrac 3345 Camera Bag


In the Places Category

 1st place winner  - Donnie Carson-of Paris, TN., picture titled -Fireworks and earned the 1st place ribbon for that category

2nd place winner - Donnie Carson- of Paris, TN., picture titled-Eiffel Tower over Starburst and earned the 2nd place ribbon for that category

3rd place winner - Donnie Carson –of Paris, TN., picture titled-Old Mill and earned the 3rd place ribbon for that category

In the Digital Darkroom Category

1st Place winner - Lauren Bell-of Wingo, KY., picture titled-Red Phone and earned the 1st place ribbon for that category

2nd Place winner - Roy Cates-of Martin, TN., picture titled-Dance and earned the 2nd place ribbon for that category.

3rd Place winner - Cory Edmison-of South Fulton, TN., and picture titled Tone Map all that’s left and earned the 3rd place ribbon for that category.


In the Flowers Category

1st Place winner - Linda Ivey-of Benton, KY., picture titled-Lilly Pads and earned the 1st place ribbon for that category

2nd Place winner - Linda Ivey-of Benton, KY., picture titled Close up lily pads and earned the 2nd place ribbon in that category

3rd Place winner - Linda Ivey-of Benton, KY., picture titled-Wild Flower and earned the 3rd place ribbon for that category

In the People Category

1st Place winner - Linda Ivey-of Benton, KY., picture titled-Brothers-and earned the 1st place ribbon in that category.

2nd Place winner - Allie Douglass-of Murray, KY., picture titled-Bright Eyes and earned the 2nd place ribbon in that category.

3rd Place winner - Megan Bunte-of Paducah, KY., picture titled - Trevor 1 and earned the 3rd place ribbon for that category


In the Nature & Landscapes Category

1st Place winner - Rachel Melton-of Sharon, TN., and picture titled-Watching Time Pass and earned the 1st place ribbon for that category.

2nd Place winner - Rachel Melton-of Sharon, TN., and picture titled-I See the Light and earned the 2nd place ribbon for that category.

3rd Place winner - Donnie Carson-of Paris, TN., and picture titled- Smokies in the fall and earned the 3rd place ribbon for that category.


In the Animals Category

1st Place winner - Ronnie Burrow-of Columbus, TN., picture titled- Jellyfish and earned the 1st place ribbon for that category

2nd Place winner - Linda Daivey-of Benton, KY., picture titled Mom and Baby and earned the 2nd place ribbon for that category.

3rd Place winner - Maray Baker-of Pleasureville, KY, picture titled Jelly Fish and earned the 3rd place ribbon in that category.


In the Student Contest

The Jerry Rucker’s People’s Choice Award is the Linda Ivey, Category-People- picture titled Brothers; this was voted on Tuesday, Sep 13, 2011 by the Top Banana’s Individual(s) at the Fulton Country Club. Fulton, KY.

The winners’ photographs will be displayed in the front windows of the Evans Total Care, 208 Lake Street, Fulton, KY from 10 A. M. Sep 14, 2011 until 12 noon Sep 23rd 2011.

All prizes are to be picked up by winners from Fulton Tourism Office 313 Carr Street, Fulton, KY 42041, during the office hours 11 A. M. to 4 P. M. from September 26, 2011 until 12 Noon September 27, 2011.

          If the winners desire that their prize(s) or ribbon(s) be mailed to them, contact Robert M. Vanderford at rbv2000@bellsouth.net on or before 12 Noon September 27, 2011 and he will advise you what procedure to use for the prizes to be sent by U. S. Postal Service at the winner’s expense.
