Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Grubbs of South Fulton, Tennessee announce the engagement of their daughter, Megan Elizabeth Grubbs to Clark Seburn Hendrix, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Thomas Hendrix III of Fulton, Kentucky.


Ms. Grubbs is a 2006 graduate of South Fulton High School. In 2010 she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design. She is now employed at Harris Chiropractic in Union City, Tennessee.


Mr. Hendrix graduated from Fulton City High School in 1997. He joined the United States Air Force in 2003 and was stationed at Dyess A.F.B. in Abilene, Texas until he separated from active duty in 2009. He joined the Tennessee Air National Guard in the summer of 2009 and continues to serve. Mr. Hendrix will graduate from the University of Tennessee at Martin in May 2012 with Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Management.


The nuptials will take place at a private resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica on March 6, 2012





Daphne Susann Boyd and Cody Ryan Hutchens
Mike and Donna Boyd of South Fulton are pleased to announce the
engagement of their daughter Daphne to Cody Hutchens, son of
John and Brandy Hutchens of South Fulton and Kenny and
Lovie Lee of Fulgham Ky. Daphne is a graduate of Arnolds Beauty
School and is employed at Styles and Profiles Salon in Dresden, Tn.
and Cody is a criminal justice major at West Kentucky Tech in Paducah,
Ky. pursuing a degree in law enforcement. They are planning a spring wedding.



Cruz to wed Fulton native Gearhart

Don Antonio Cruz Martín and Doña Josefa Jiménez Guerra of El Rubio, Spain announce the engagement of their daughter, Encarnación Cruz Jiménez, to Grant Allen Gearhart, son of Allen and Jen Ray Gearhart of Fulton, Kentucky. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Francisco Cruz Martín and Luisa Martín Ballesteros of El Rubio and Francisca Guerra López and the late Joaquín Jiménez Giráldez of El Rubio.

 

Ms. Cruz is a 2005 graduate of the University of Seville where she earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English Philology, and a 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she completed a Master’s of Arts degree in Hispanic Literature. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature focusing on novels from the Mexican Revolution and the Spanish Civil War, as well as film studies covering those two periods of conflict. Ms. Cruz has translated two books from English into Spanish and has published articles in Ningún crítico cuenta esto and Explicación de Textos Literarios. She was selected as the “Outstanding Teaching Fellow for Undergraduate Teaching” at UNC in 2010. She is currently preparing for her doctoral examinations, teaching English classes for professionals, and serving as a consultant for UNC’s Study Abroad program in Seville.

 

Mr. Gearhart is the grandson of Helen Gearhart and the late Dr. Abraham Gearhart of Owensboro, Kentucky and Wilma Browder and the late Charles Browder of Fulton, Kentucky. He was the 1998 Fulton High School valedictorian and graduated Cum Laude in 2003 from Sewanee: The University of the South with degrees in Economics and Spanish, while earning four varsity letters playing basketball for the Tigers. Prior to entering graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Mr. Gearhart taught Spanish at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He received his Masters of Arts in Hispanic Literature in 2009 from UNC and is now a Ph.D. candidate in Medieval and Early Modern Spanish Literature. Mr. Gearhart is currently a Visiting Lecturer in the Departmento de Literature Inglesa y Norteamericana at the University of Seville where he is presenting “Transatlantic Encounters: A Series of Lectures Discussing North American and Spanish Culture in the Twenty-first Century” while also teaching English classes for Engineers and Computer Science majors. Additionally, he is researching and writing his dissertation “The Poetics of War: the Evolution of Battle Scenes in Medieval Spanish Texts.”

 

The nuptials will take place at the Church of the Virgen del Rosario in El Rubio, Spain on July 21st, 2012. A reception will follow at the Hacienda Parchilena.    

 




 

Harris, Polach announce engagement

Granville Joe Thomas of Cunningham, KY and Susan Jennae Baker of Paducah, KY announce the engagement of their son, Louis Elliot Polach to Desteny Faith Harris of Wingo KY.

Ms. Harris  is a student at Hickman County High School who will graduate in May of 2012. She plans to attend West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah KY as a math major.

Mr. Polach is a 2009 graduate of Lyon County High School in Eddyville KY, and plans resume school in August at West Kentucky Community and Technical College to become as a Paralegal major.

The wedding is scheduled for August 25, 2012 at Ms. Harris’s home in Wingo KY. More details about the location will be available as the date gets closer though.
