Lerlon “Moss” Batts

(August 29, 1930 – March 23, 2011)

 

Mr. Lerlon “Moss” Batts, 80, of South Fulton, TN, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. 

 

He was a member of the South Fulton Baptist Church and was a self-employed truck driver.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.  He had lived in the area all his life.

 

He is survived by his wife, Teena Pollard Batts, to whom he married September 5, 1987; 8 children, Richard Batts, Rose (Ricky) Smith, both of Union City, TN, Anthony Batts, Allen (Bonnie) Batts, Kimberly Batts, Jimmy (Michelle) Daniels, Ricky Daniels and Tim (Amy) Kopriva, all of South Fulton, TN; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a brother, William Batts of Clinton, KY.

 

He was preceded in death by 2 wives, Ivanell Crittendon Batts, and Lana Jo Counce Batts; his parents, Vester and Eunice Jackson Batts, 2 brothers, Gerald Batts and Charles Batts, and a sister, Shirley Evans.

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., March 25, 2011, at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Mike Hazelwood officiating.  Interment will be at Clark Cemetery in Hickman, KY.  Visitation will be held Friday, March 25, from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.
