Ruth Craig Grooms

(June 19, 1918 – April 4, 2011)

 

Mrs. Ruth Craig Grooms, 92, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Haws Memorial Rehab & Nursing Facility in Fulton, KY.

 

Mrs. Grooms was a member of Parkway Church of Christ, Fulton, KY, a resident of Haws Nursing Home, and was a homemaker.  She had also been the store manager of the former Montgomery Ward stores in Fulton, KY and Union City, TN; a former Avon and Stanley Home Products representative; former secretary for Parkway Church of Christ; and attended Draughn’s Business College.  She had lived in this area most of her life.

 

She is survived by 3 daughters, Patsy (Bob) Craven of Fulton, KY, Pam (Richard) Jackson of Pilot Oak, KY, and Tammy Curtis of Fulton, KY; a son, Lowell (Barbara) Grooms of South Fulton, TN; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. “Bill” Grooms; her parents, Ida Ethel (Marshall) and Wiley Black Craig; a son, Billy Grooms; a daughter, Ginger Gwen Grooms; 2 sons-in-law, Scott Curtis and Garry Moore; 6 brothers and 6 sisters; and a great-grandson, Caleb Turner.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, with Brother Cecil May III presiding.  Burial will be at Greenlea Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from 5-9 p.m., and Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.
