Fulton Railroaders 5, Sikeston Bulls 2

It was a cloudy, cool evening in Sikeston and the Bulls had trouble heating things up.  The Bulls put 7 hits up on the board but could only score 2 runs on the night.  One of these hits was a solo home run blast by Blake Slattery in the fourth inning that landed over the right field fence.  That tied the score at one a piece.

The Bulls made a highlight defensive play in the fourth when Koby Kraemer made a great stop on a hard hit ground ball, and fired it over to first for the first out of the inning.  Sikeston scored its second run in the 5th inning when Jordan Kimball walked and Kyle Burnam got a single.  Kody Campbell then reached on a fielder's choice moving Kimball over to third but Burnam was thrown out at second.  Joe Meggs came to the plate and reached on a Railroader error that also allowed Kimball to score.

Fulton had scored 2 more by then and added 2 more in the 7th for a final score of 5-2.  Burnam got 3 hits on the night, all singles, for Sikeston.  Starting Bulls pitcher Logan Lawson takes the hard loss going 6 and 1/3 innings with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks on the night.  Tyler McCann came in to get the second out of the inning, a strikeout, and then Corey Felts took over the rest of the game.  Railroader starter Tim Dunn went 7 innings striking out 6 Bulls and walking 4 batters.  Matthew Harris came in for the last 2 innings getting the save.

Fulton travels to Sikeston again Monday night for the second game of the series.
