Students in Fulton Independent School’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers Bulldogs Beyond the Bell third and fourth grade group recently completed an experiment to see how two common products can be used to grow crystals that look similar to snowflakes. After mixing up individual portions of Epsom salt and water, the students poured out the solution onto circles of construction paper. After watching the paper dry for several days, the students saw salt crystals begin to form on the paper and dry into a pattern. Through the project, the students learned about evaporation, crystal formation and properties of minerals. All Bulldogs Beyond the Bell projects are financed with federal 21st CCLC funds.
