UT MARTIN ALPHA TAU OMEGA CHAPTER TO CLOSE

MARTIN, Tenn. — The Alpha Tau Omega chapter at the University of Tennessee at Martin will close following denial of a final appeal of a hazing incident suspension to university Chancellor Tom Rakes and recommendation of charter revocation to the ATO national board by Wynn R. Smiley, fraternity CEO. The chapter was notified of Rakes’ decision in a letter sent to the chapter Jan. 27.

Congratulations to the High School Academic Team and all students who competed at this year’s District Governor’s Cup Competition. Fulton City High School was Overall District Champions again this year – for the fifth year in a row.

Our students also brought home the Hume Sportsmanship Award which is voted on by the participants!!

Obituary – Marshall Mann

Marshall D. Mann, age 68, of Springville, TN and formerly of this area,
died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his residence.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Union City,TN
and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89,
Amvets Post 45, VFW Post 1889 and was a retired forklift operator for the former
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City.  He had lived in this area most of his life.
