Upcoming Event – Spring into Green: Outdoor Living Edition
The 6th annual Spring Into Green workshop will feature various aspects of outdoor living. This area-wide event will occur on Thursday, March 13th at Mid-Continent University in the Cougar Center and classroom building. Mid-Continent University is located at 99 E. Powell Rd in Mayfield. Spring Into Green is sponsored by the Purchase Area Extension Agents for Family & Consumer Sciences.
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the welcoming remarks at 9:30 a.m. Keynote speakers will be Dr. Winston Dunwell of University of Kentucky Extension Horticulture Specialist presenting on New Ideas in Landscape Design. The workshop will conclude at 2:30.
Participants will be able to choose four of five mini-sessions:
The Incredible Edible Landscape – Kelly Jackson, Horticulture Agent in Christian County, will explore great plant choices that will help you have an incredible, edible landscape.
Grills and Outdoor Cooking – Riff Turner, Master Food Volunteer, will demonstrate tips and tricks to make the most of your grill and outdoor cooking experiences.
Water Features 101 – Dick Roberts, Paducah attorney, will discuss what you need to know when choosing a type of water feature that best suits your outdoor environment.
Rain Barrels – Ashley Osborne, Extension Associate, will share how a rain barrel is a simple and inexpensive means of conserving water from rooftops for use during drier periods.
