Martin Police Investigate Fire
On 03/12/2014 at approx. 2035 hours Lt. Eric Reed received a call of a structure fire at 100 Jackson St.
On arrival Lt. Reed noticed that the fire was coming from the front left window and door as facing the front of the house. The fire was covering the porch area. Heavy smoke was visible inside and coming from the inside of the residence. Officers on the scene received conflicting reports as to whether or not the victim was in the residence. The smoke and fire were such that no entry into the structure could be made.
Lt. Reed was notified by Martin Fire Chief Jamie Summers near the completion of the firefighting activities that the victim had been found inside the residence. Lt. Reed did notify CID at that time as well as Chief Moore. Fire personnel notified Tennessee Bomb and Arson investigators. Capt. Erwin and Lt. Hatler did respond to the scene. Investigation will continue by CID.
